Muriwai Gannet Colony
Went to Muriwai to photograph gannets and ended with a nice sunset.

A couple white-fronted terns dueling it out.
Surf Photos
Tried my hand at some surf photography at Piha Beach. I kind of liked it. Will have to try again sometime. Here are a few shots. More can be found under NZ Life.
Kaka
The kaka is an endemic species of parrot to New Zealand. They live in forests, which can make them difficult to photograph. This one came out alright.
Another Tui
So many tuis out and about. Good thing they are nice to photograph.
Bioluminescence
First time seeing bioluminescence. Got a photo of it but I hope to get it another time when it’s more active.

During lockdown we haven't been able to leave the Auckland region but at least we can visit Piha Beach.
Lots of bird photos
We’re still in lockdown here in Auckland but some things are opening up some so I’m getting out a little more to photograph birds in the area. Here are a few shots from some recent outings as well as ones I’ve put off until now. More additions can be found in the New Zealand wildlife section.
More South Island mountains
Here’s another shot of the mountains near Queenstown. I believe these are called Tooth Peaks.
South Island
Finally found our way to the south island, Queenstown to be exact. Can't wait to go back. I've missed seeing mountains.
Royal spoonbill coming in for a landing

Visited Mount Taranaki for the first time. Such a beautiful mountain.

Got to see this beautiful mandarin duck catch a fish.

Got this photo of a burrowing owl over the summer. They have so much personality.
Hummingbird
Spent a lot of time the other day watching Anna’s hummingbirds. The males have been very active establishing their territory. Haven’t seen any females. I assume they are busy building nests.
